the idea is really good, the demo songs are also really nice, the way they do it to keep compatibility with regular mp3 decoders is well thought. frauenhofer stores the additional surround info in a 16kbit/s in sidechannels so a regular stereo downmix still works.but for using it now it is way too early...mp3surround doesnt know streaming audio, and is quite slow on moving the timeline slider forward, even for normal mp3s.@ stycks:using cmss is not real surround sound, it adds just some hall effects, this codec has real 5.1 surround sound. you can't compare those 2for instance play doom3 with cmss upmix without using 3d 5.1 audio and then play it again with 5.1 .... there are worlds between the two..just wait until good demo songs are made, those provided didn't really blow my mind & ears...i'm sure some trance ppl will make some space sounding trance song that uses all 5.1 chanels and then shows what this codec is capable of.

granted a good programmer can write good code. but structured programming from the basic world is no longer adapted for object oriented programming. unless i am unfortunate but what i have seen is that developers used to the structured programing approach don't transition well to oop. the old habits which have some remnants in syntax and style are minor. the abuse of broad scoping in variables, & method is already more annoying. the tendency of designing a class as a "module" which results in a monolithic class "do everything", the lack of encapsulation, the little use of inheritance (if ever), etc. are clearly a maintenance burden. even though a class designed in a "basic" way of thinking fulfills perfectly the requirements. the only problem is a higher maintenance effort.even an excellent implementation of basic will be subject to subtle side effects and will suffer some difficulties to cope with specs change. because it doesn't have the facilities of abstraction, inheritance, polymorphism, etc. that oop provides.and as unbelievable as it could appears, i know quite well basic actually (or may be too well?). i have learn oop and forced myself to think oop. writing good code that works is fine. writing robust code, side-effects free, which evolves better with lower maintenance is better achieved with oop.if you think basic can still fit your coding needs then, by all means use it. the comments below are pretty much similar to what i used to get from "old school" senior developers. i have no trouble of people getting the job done. but in a team working with oop language and some developers still think the "basic" way, that hinders the team efforts and set bad example for junior developers.

not a review, but a observation. the download link takes me to 'kubuntu' --kde based , which is different than the main ubuntu distribution.other than that. ubuntu 13.04 (daily) has some nice additions/changes.

it stinks...bring back the free version. try a little honesty and stop misleading people with the free version which no longer exists. thirty dollars for what?? the voice is as dull and lifeless as your new design. now that is my review...my second review, let's see if this one gets past your censors.

i agree it's a waste of both time and energy since you can go to the store and buy a calander.the other problem that i have with the mozilla project is in their addonn. these addons are most often unsigned which means the developer didn't want his/her name to appear when d/ling. this doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in what you are d/ling which is to bad because there is a lot of addons that i like but won't d/l because they are unsign.

faststone capture is now a 30 day trial. the last freeware version was 5.3.since this seems to be the best free capture utility now, i'll give it a 4 star, though it has room to improve.
