apple software on windows should simply be called a virus as it is every bit as invasive.

we used to use installshield pro for many years, and it was horrendous. we had a list of install defects as long as our arms, developers always had issues creating installs, and if you wanted to do anything outside the norm, you were asking for trouble.we switched to nsis, 2.5 years ago, we now have no serious install defects, and everything runs smoothly, if we need to do anything out of the norm, it's a doddle using plugins.moving to nsis was the best decision we ever made.

i'm concerned about the huge jump in memory needed for the app. the performance also seems oddly inconsistent. does trying to optimize the application for multi-core processors really have to come with such penalties?sticking with 4.11 for now. i need to do some more complex testing scenarios to figure out just how wide of an impact the latest version (4.20) this new version will have on the types of files that i typically archive.btw - johnk119 has a good point in that on 64 bit systems, we do have tons of memory and a different type of memory management than on 32 bit systems, so that may help take the edge off of my concerns somewhat.for all my 32 bit systems, i'm still using windows xp. all of my 64 bit systems are windows 7 and have at least 8 gig of ram. the ability properly address more than 4 gig of memory is the primary motivation for me to be using windows 7 right now. windows 7 64 bit has much, much better driver support than windows xp 64 bit has ever had, at least from my personal experience.all this to say, maybe i'm worried too much in terms of the 64 bit version of winrar.

going downhill: as below it try's to add a tool-bar & gives ads after each use, i would prefer the option to purchase rather than have crap added to my pc - looking elsewhere now ~gom player is now ad-ware both on installation & in usage - therefore no longer freeware ~

it is doing what it says. i used it to cut the noise at the end of some files. it has two problems. the first one is that if you cut the end of a file it also deletes the file's information. another more serious problem is that sometimes the files become much bigger than the original. it is a good and simple program but it needs more work to be done.

latest version rips davinci and geisha without any problems. has its own "compress the dvd to fit on a single layer disc" function, along with many others that the competition has like copy only the main movie, convert to different formats, etc. and all at a pretty decent's interface is pretty easy to understand from the start. options are clear and straight-forward. seems to be a solid stand-alone executable option, causing no conflicts with packet-writing software that i can find in my tests with the program.might be worth a look if you want a ripper with some extra functions built-in.

doesnâ´t work with ie9 (in windows 7 x64). causes crashes, warning about a missing dictionary when windows starts.
